Day 1

ARRIVAL IN SEOUL

  • Check-in and rest
  • Lunch
  • Culture Lecture: "What Does a Culture Show the World?"
Every nation has a culture — but only some cultures travel. This opening session invites students to think about what Korean culture shows to the world, and why it has become one of the most influential cultural exports of the 21st century. What does your own country's culture say about who you are?
  • Visit Sinsa-dong area, an iconic marketing district
Since the pandemic, online sales have surged — and the trend continues. With more people shopping online, offline spaces can no longer serve just as places to buy. So how is Korea reinventing offline marketing spaces?
  • Bukchon Hanok Village
Walk through one of Seoul's most iconic traditional neighborhoods, where centuries-old hanok houses sit side by side with modern cafés and boutiques. These homes were not built as a tourist attraction — people still live here. What does it mean for a community to choose to live in the past?
  • Activity: Hanbok photo shoot & personal color experience
Try on traditional Korean hanbok and discover how Koreans have long used color and fabric to express identity, status, and occasion.
  • Dinner
  • Myeongdong Night Market walk
One of Korea's most electric night markets — street food, K-beauty, and crowds from all over the world. In just a few blocks, you can taste tteokbokki, listen to buskers, and watch live makeup demos. What does this street tell you about how Korean culture presents itself to visitors?
